TRAFFIC IS PEOPLE

National Day of Courtesy, May 26th, 2006

It`s not just cars, lorries, bikes and buses clogging up our roads. Look carefully and you will see that they contain mums and dads, kids, grannies, grandads and even pets.

The Campaign for Courtesy believes that we could prevent hundreds of accidents every year if we remembered this. It is not just metal, glass and rubber that get damaged, and even written off, but people.

Road safety expert David Williams, Chief Executive of GEM Motoring Assist, says he backs the Campaigns efforts to humanise busy roads . "Safety on the road is unquestionably linked with courtesy. Traffic is people, and people are vulnerable to mistakes. It costs nothing to be polite, and it could prevent untold pain and distress."
